General Information

Monks Withecombe is in the Dartmoor National Park, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. We're just 25 minutes from Exeter. 2.5 miles off the A30, and 1 mile out of Chagford.

Monks is "venue only". We provide stunning gardens, a beautiful marquee field, safe off-road parking, excellent local contacts and support and assistance where needed.

You are free to put together your own unique, personal day at Monks Withecombe.

We can put you in touch with excellent local contacts: caterers, florists, marquees and loos - but you are free to choose your own team, and bring your own suppliers to Monks. We insist only that any suppliers you bring to Monks are properly trained, registered and insured. There are no hidden charges at Monks - no corkage or per head charge. We have a dedicated 64amp power supply, and a back-up generator. We are happy to take in and keep secure any deliveries during the week of your reception.

The Gallery and Corn Barn are both licensed for civil ceremonies. The Gallery is beautiful, with long views to Dartmoor and can seat up to 100 people, including the Registrars.

The Corn Barn is larger than the Gallery, measuring 40ft x 20ft with huge windows on the east, west and south sides. You may choose to hold the ceremony in the Gallery, and move through to the Corn Barn for the wedding breakfast. Alternatively, the Corn Barn would be perfect as a dance area. There is a raised gallery for the band, or for the high table, at one end of the Corn Barn. For a large wedding, the Corn Barn would be perfect as a wet weather alternative to the gardens, before your family and friends move through to the Marquee.

The eight acre marquee field, with its wonderful views to Dartmoor, is perfect for a game of cricket, or rounders, or kite flying. You are welcome to return to Monks on Sunday morning for a relaxed BBQ, game of cricket or rounders, while your family and friends help with tidying and clearing the marquee. Enjoy time together the day after the reception, to share memories of your special day, and to spend some peaceful, catch up time with the people who matter most to you.

We are surrounded by farmland and farm animals, so no fireworks or Chinese lanterns please. You must also ensure that any suppliers understand the need to protect and respect this very special environment, and that all rubbish and recycling must be removed from the venue.

Prices

You can pick and choose which facilities you would like to hire at Monks for your wedding day, although you can be assured that wherever you choose to hold your ceremony and/or reception you will only ever be the only wedding on that day.

Carriages at midnight.
